These trips are similar to Antarctic Peninsula voyages but typically have a couple additional days in Antarctica with the main goal of sailing further south to cross 66 degrees 33’ south. Traveling this far south you will have the chance to visit more off the beaten track locations, experience heavily iced landscapes and see an incredible amount of icebergs. Very few have ventured so far south, and by traversing the Antarctic Circle, you become part of an exclusive group of travelers.
Given the amount of time it takes to travel to Antarctica and that the weather can be very unpredictable, it can be very beneficial to book an Antarctic Circle voyage and give yourself more time in destination. These voyages are mostly offered later in the season (with the most departures in February & March) when there is less sea ice down by the Circle and when whale sightings are at their peak.
The Antarctic Peninsula & Antarctic Circle are accessed by ship from Ushuaia, Argentina or by plane from Punta Arenas, Chile.
